Help Implement the Region's Plan

GO TO 2040 is our seven counties' new comprehensive long-range plan, setting clearly defined strategies to pursue the regional vision of sustainable prosperity. Developed by the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP), its clear priorities for goal-driven, coordinated public investments will strengthen our economy and communities for decades to come. Think regionally, start locally:­

Take public transportation!

Find out what your elected officials and local governments are working on.

Attend local planning meetings, and participate in the decisions that shape your community. 

Learn about the Energy Impact Illinois program.

Find out how this program can help you improve the energy efficiency of your home or place of business.

Get involved in local civic organizations.

There are lots of local organizations that are helping to implement GO TO 2040 like the Active Transportation Alliance, Arts Alliance Illinois, and Chicago Wilderness.  Visit their websites to get involved in issues that are important to you.

Get to know people in your community.

Take on small projects that bring residents together like building a community garden, or participating in local arts and culture activities.

Support local businesses in your community.

Shop at your neighborhood farmers' market.

Learn about the issues that shape the livability of our communities.

Most importantly, contact your elected officials.

Tell them about GO TO 2040 and the changes you want to see happen in northeastern Illinois.  Visit Congress.org to find your local legislators, and urge them to make the critical decisions that will secure metropolitan Chicago's future.
